I think it is reasonable to draw attention to the subject of a specific post you just made. Using Lee's logic, if you are following someone, you are probably open to be nudged in the tweeters direction.

I was in the osmosoft office on monday this weekm and saw their 10 commandments on twitter, they have a HUGE poster on the wall

It is a fine line between Tweet that says "blogging" or one that says "blogging see HTTP:xxx"

They way i see it , if they follow my tweets, they prolly now where my blog is anyway.

Although I have included URL in my tweets from time to time if i want to promote a discussion

Let us approach Recommendation from Information Liquidity point of view.
Before that let us look at Liquidity in well understood context - Money. Cash( as in paper Money) is more liquid is one end of the spectrum. A pizza in a way is also money( you get pizza for money, someone makes money with pizza etc). Yet, pizza as money occupies some other( less liquid) part of the liquidity spectrum.

In terms of Information Liquidity, a Recommendation is more pizza like than (paper)cash like.

In an abundant world, Pizza like information's 'usefulness' increases with the Recipe used to cook it. Wikipedia's guidelines is a good example of Recipe( or a social algorithm) at work. Digg is yet another social algo at work.

More diversity of Recipe the merrier! For that we need more information( overload) rather than less.
Battle cry is(Information) Liquidity, Liquidity, Liquidity!
