Don’t forget Dopplr (which you’ve mentioned before) allows you to share your future travel plans and whereabouts with others in the hope of increasing serendipity. (BTW, if you haven’t seen co-founder and lead designer Matt Jones’s presentation
Designing for Spacetime it’s entertaining and thought provoking.) Upcoming is another service that allows you to share plans to attend future events. And finally 43 Things lets you “list your goals, share your progress, cheer each other on.”

They don’t quite fit your bill for …

“I want to be able to say “I’m landing at SFO in 10 hours, I’m in the market for a Toyota Prius, 3 days, drop off Sausalito.” I want people who are interested in meeting that need to respond to me.”

… but they are a start and with a few tweaks and combinations with the services mentioned and others like calendar items, to do lists and wish lists (Amazon, BookMooch, etc.), the futurestream would be that much closer. For example, if you were able to make specific trips public in Dopplr (while keeping others private) and mention requests like the one for a Prius that you mentioned, someone might be able to meet your need.

Please clarify “a platform that allows us to do that forward and back in time” – What is meant by “forward in time” ?
