Love the bridge scenario! what a thrill, even more so than finessing, one of my favorite things to do. The scenario suggests no K or A on the board, so no finesse. You lead with the A or K. So, do you hold something like AJ1098.. and the K in the other opponent's hand?

The clash of the mediocre teams came off our way. But we are still only fouth in the world ranking, and will probably not win a single game against the South Africans.

Blimey JP. I'd love to hear you explain that to Geoffrey Boycott in a TMS interview. I was off air for 24 hours in US travel nightmare, surrounded by people not connected to the net and not interested in what was going on at the Oval. You can imagine how invigorating it was finally to arrive, check the status and belatedly find out about Broad's heroics...fell asleep exhausted but happy. But job is not done yet...

Being at the Oval yesterday: that was prescient. One of the best day's test cricket for a while. I was huddling over my Radio 5 Live feed, with as many text over-by-over blogs as I could follow, here in Paris for the whole day. At dinner with my French cousins that evening I couldn't contain my delight at the experience. In response, c'est dommage, they could scarcely look up from their couscous.
