JP,

Lovely read. Need to come back during the weekend and savour. And perhaps you could do a piece on comicwallah, arguably a mobile library way ahead of its time? The dabbawallahs of Mumbai have been case-studied and discussed to death, but it takes some crazy skill for someone like comicwallah to remember who has read what, likes what, etc, despite being (almost) ineducated...

There is an interesting division in this article between "make and build" - which is mainly a male activity, whether done in the back of the shed to avoid family situations or for real - comapred with the stewardship / conservation instincts that are indeed pretty universal.

The consumer economy allows people to "have" what they cannot "build". And yes, that includes children at the moment. I'm interested to see what happens to society if we go back to "if you can't make it, you can't have it".

Zigurd, that's very interesting. Just the kind of thing I'd love to chat over with someone like David Anderson or Martin Fowler, both of whom have some real understanding of distributed agility. Thanks for stopping by.
