for a worthy predecessor, see ‘The Wrong Trousers’, with Wallace & Gromit (Nick Park, Aardman animations), and the trainset chase therein, 1993.
the stop motion didn’t emerge in the las deacade. The first camera was a bit of stopmotion from Muybridge. And if you want to see a great stop motion amateur movie take a look at Tony vs. Paul inspired in a short animation winner of the oscar in the 70′.
This was a very cool video. I kept wondering if there would have been a better way to do it than stop-motion, but I couldn’t think of one. Thanks for sharing it.

Hope all is fine with you.
Hey axel how are you? Nice to see you here. Coffee sometime?
Personally I find stop-motion animation fascinating. As you work for a telco – I thought you might find this TV ad for MTN (South Africa) intriguing. It is my favourite video right now. http://www.mtn.co.za/?pid=328905#
